Hitman 2 developer IO Interactive has announced that the stealthy sequel will support competitive multiplayer.

Known as Ghost Mode, the multiplayer is a one vs one affair that sees both players controlling Agent 47 in a battle to see who can snuff out the most lives in a match. Players begin side-by-side, at which point a race begins to neutralize targets as fast and efficiently as possible.

The interesting thing is that you aren't technically in the same reality. You can see a 'ghost' of your rival, but they will be doing their own thing separately; as such, you'll still find yourself hunting down the same target.

While you can track your progress against your opponent, nothing you do will affect their efforts in a match.

Hitman 2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on November 13. Ghost Mode will initially be available for the Miami location, with more areas rolling out after the game's release.

If you loved the original Hitman (and why not? It was bloomin' awesome), then you'll be pleased to know that you can snap up a Legacy Pack featuring stages from 2016's episodic hit. There's also a Hitman 2 Collector's Edition that includes a rubber duck.
