Helldivers 2 has achieved the impossible by becoming a PlayStation-published game set to be released on Xbox. Many asked for the game to be released on Microsoft consoles, but very few legitimately believed it would happen. While the upcoming launch on Xbox Series X/S is exciting, Arrowhead has confirmed they have “no plans” for Helldivers 2 to release on Xbox Game Pass.

Following the reveal of Helldivers 2 coming to Xbox, a lot of prospective players have wondered if it will eventually be added to Game Pass. This is because a lot of third-party games, let alone first-party, get added to Xbox Game Pass on day-one of their release.
Alas, that isn’t happening with HD2. On Discord, Arrowhead community manager, Baskinator, responded “Definitely not” to a message saying, “I’m pretty sure it was confirmed to be coming to gamepass”. In addition, the community manager elaborated there are “No plans to bring it to gamepass”.
It will be interesting to see how well Helldivers 2 performs on Xbox. It will presumably sell extremely well because of all the praise it has received since releasing on PC and PS5 in early 2024, but, on Xbox, there is sometimes a reluctance to buy new games due to the Xbox Game Pass library.
Fortunately, HD2 isn’t a full-priced Premium release similar to The Outer Worlds, which will cost $80 if you are not a Game Pass subscriber. Instead, Arrowhead’s multiplayer shooter is available to pre-order from the Microsoft store at £34.99 for the Standard edition, and £51.99 for the Super Citizen package.
In addition to not bringing the game to Xbox Game Pass, Arrowhead have confirmed there are still no plans to add cross-progression. This is despite previous discussions for implementing the feature.
