It’s almost hard to believe that Helldivers 2 has only been around for a year. After winning multiple awards at Geoff Keighley’s annual Game Awards, the popular multiplayer game has won big at the annual DICE celebrations.
While the game had a tumultuous period after a series of massive nerfs, HD2 is better than ever. With the rising threat of the Illuminate and the Meridian Singularity heading to Super Earth, it’s clear that the game is continuing to grow into the “super epic 5.0” version Arrowhead is planning.
Arrowhead wins big with Helldivers 2 awards
At the annual DICE Game Awards, Helldivers 2 developer took home four awards for their popular multiplayer co-op game. As shared by community manager Katherine Baskin, the studio won multiple awards at the celebration.
First and foremost, Helldivers 2 won the award for “Action Game of the Year”, beating out many high-profile AAA releases. Additionally, the game took home the award for best “Online Game of the Year”, which we all know it very much deserves.
Alongside that, Arrowhead won awards for parts of the game that go unnoticed by a lot of players. For example, the game’s fantastic musical score took home an “Outstanding Achievement” award for “Original Music Composition,” awarding the team for the game’s amazing soundtrack.
Finally, Helldivers 2 won another “Outstanding Achievement” for “Best Audio Design”, which is undeniably deserved. How many times have you been pinned down by the terrifying blasts of those damn towers that decimate your eardrums? Remember the sounds of the ICBMs flying into the air! It’s spectacular.
Of course, Helldivers 2 is far from done as Arrowhead plans to turn the game into its own sequel. With weapon customisation in development and an invasion of Super Earth imminent, we could be seeing some awards for “Best Ongoing Game” this time next year.
