The Helldivers 2 developers look to be bringing major changes to the game, with the Arrowhead CEO recently asking players for suggestions on what they want to see added to the game. Although this wasn’t part of the discussion, this idea could be one of the best changes to come to the game if Arrowhead decides to bring it back.

U/tedge081 took to the Helldivers 2 sub-Reddit to make the suggestion that the developers should add the weapon customization feature that was present in Helldivers 1.
This feature allowed players to earn Research Points which could be used to improve aspects of weapons such as Power, Range, Fire Rate, Stability, and Magazine size. These points were also used originally to unlock and improve Stratagems, but this has since been changed to unlocking them using Requisition Slips and improving things using Samples to unlock Ship Modules.
With many of the weapons in Helldivers 2 being too balanced due to the reactionary updates by the developers, being able to upgrade them to buff them further would be a great addition to the game. Arrowhead Game Studios could expand upon this further and take inspiration from the likes of Call of Duty and Fortnite and allow for modifications to be added, such as scopes, under barrels, magazines, grips, and other upgrades to give a more personalized feel to match the player’s style.
Now that Arrowhead Game Studios are back from summer vacation, they are hard at work bringing updates and changes to Helldivers 2. The Escalation of Freedom major update is set to bring new planets, enemies, missions, and more to the game on August 6th, followed by the Freedom’s Flame Warbond on August 8th. Now that the developers are looking to bring quality-of-life changes to the game, as well as asking players for feedback and suggestions, this would be a great addition to Helldivers 2 in the future.
