Helldivers 2 added urban environments alongside the arrival of the Illuminate, as well as new weapons, vehicles and a wealth of other goodies. However, it looks like the battle is getting even closer to home as new leaks reveal Super Earth cities ready to defend in a future update.

Discovered by trusty dataminer IronS1ghts, who has also leaked upcoming armour skin customisation and weapon attachment systems, developer Arrowhead is still working on Super Earth environments for new content, and cities have finally been added.

Helldivers 2 is going to Super Earth

Since the arrival of the Illuminate last year, it’s been clear that the new alien menace is getting closer to Super Earth. As new terrifying Illuminate enemies and mission types get added into the game’s files, it’s clear that something big is about to happen.

Last year, IronS1ghts revealed that a number of Super Earth locations were added into the game, but these were all rural environments. However, Arrowhead has now added urban environments to the list of locations available to defend on Super Earth.

Before now, Super Earth maps discovered in the midst of development included the following biomes: “Oats, Orchard, Wheat and Corn.” Now, Arrrowhead has added sprawling cities and devastate surroundings to the game.

The leaker explained that the Super Earth map is listed as its own unique biome, but the game still has a lot of placeholder assets.

“It has a unique biome, however it is currently using a sort of placeholder one,” IronS1ghts explained. “Probably a testing environment for now.”

Additionally, only Illuminate forces are able to be battled on the in-development Super Earth maps. While this could just be an issue with early development, attempting to spawn Automatons or Termanid forces onto the new biome results in a crash. However, they could also join the fray in later updates.
