Arrowhead has succeeded in bringing swarms of players back to Helldivers 2. The game was at its lowest of lows just a month ago, but it has bounced back extremely well thanks to Arrowhead’s most recent update adding huge buffs. While these buffs are appreciated, fans are also looking forward to new content. The third faction has been anticipated ever since HD2’s launch, and it’s possible that the Illuminate release date may be closer than Helldivers 2 players realize.
There is a lot coming to HD2. The Democracy Space Station is in the process of getting constructed, and it’s believed this will lead to the introduction of the leaked clan system: platoons. In addition, gameplay leaks in the past have put a spotlight on driveable vehicles, and a more recent leak has revealed a new Primal Warbond and “dangerous, adorable” faction.
While the introduction of clans and vehicles would be great, something fans have been desperate for since leaks first started to appear is the Illuminate. The Illuminate is real rather than a mythical boogeyman under the bed, and it’s possible they are coming to Helldivers 2 in just a few weeks.
Helldivers 2 Illuminate release date could be Liberty Day
Arrowhead hasn’t announced when the faction is arriving, but there is speculation that the Illuminate could be debuting in Helldivers 2 on Liberty Day. If that is the case, that means we only have to wait until October 26th.
For those unaware, Liberty Day is a yearly celebration in the Helldivers universe. It is a holiday of Super Earth, and it’s something Arrowhead celebrate every year. Think N7 day for Mass Effect or May the 4th be with you for Star Wars.
A lot has leaked about the Illuminate in the past. Leaks have given us a look at a ‘Tripod‘ enemy-type, they have revealed never before seen weapons for the faction, and they have also given us a close up look at the enemy.
Recently, on October 1st, players noticed that the number of Illuminates killed in the War Room skyrocketed up to 11,913. This was quickly removed, but a screenshot was captured and shared on Reddit by OP Aj23975.
The belief is that the kill count could have skyrocketed through beta playtests. This isn’t official, but it’s the leading theory.
In addition to the kill count skyrocket, YouTuber Thordan has shared that datamined files have revealed that the sub region of the Illuminate appear on Super Earth. This has led to the belief that the Illuminate could be planning to strike Earth on Liberty Day.
All of this is speculation rather than anything official. In response to a fan on Discord saying the squids are arriving on Liberty Day, Arrowhead Support Agent, B Vitamin, said “Where’d you obtain this information? Would you tell your Democracy Officer?”.
