The Helldivers 2 community has been on a roll recently by completing numerous Major Orders and turning the war against the Automatons and the Terminids in our favor. But, all good things must come to an end and it might happen sooner rather than later as The Illuminate is right around the corner and set to come to the game at the conclusion of the current story arc. Part of that story puts morality on the table and has players make a choice, save the children, or unlock a fun reward.

The current Major Order has once again given players two choices, with the decision affecting both the story and the reward granted to players for its success. The first is to rescue survivors currently trapped on an Automaton planet, including children. This route appears to have no reward attached to it apart from a sense of morality. The second will finally unlock the Anti-Tank Mines.
This is the third time that the Anti-Tank Mines have been on offer in Helldivers 2 and it looks like it will be the third time we don’t unlock them. The first time was in April 2024 when players had the choice of choosing the Anti-Tank Mines or the Airburst Rocket Launcher. The community chose the Rocket Launcher and then proceeded to complain about how bad the weapon was. Next, it was on offer for eradicating two billion Automatons, but the majority of the community couldn’t pry themselves away from fighting the Terminids to do their part for democracy. And now, players have to choose between morality and blowing up enemies.
But, even if players want to unlock the Anti-Tank Mines, Arrowhead Game Studios may have other plans for the Helldivers 2 community. Rather than just choosing which planet to liberate, players need to liberate surrounding planets first before eventually moving onto the planet that is needed to complete the Major Order. When it comes to saving the trapped citizens, there is just one planet that needs to be liberated first before they can be rescued. However, when it comes to unlocking the Anti-Tank Mines, there are four planets that need liberating before they can begin to be unlocked. This means that even if the community wants the Mines, it will be a lot harder to get them which will likely turn a lot of players off making that choice.
Considering Arrowhead Game Studios has been trying to give this Stratagem away for two months now, it would have made sense to make saving the children the more difficult option to test the mortality of the community. Only time will tell as to which option the community chooses. However, if enough effort is put in then it is possible to complete both.
