This year has been full of multiplayer game releases right from Space Marine 2, Black Ops 6 to Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8. However, one title reigned supreme, thanks to its active community and memorable gameplay moments, Helldivers 2.
While the event itself was full of exciting gameplay reveals like The Witcher IV, Borderlands 4, and more, the announcement of the winner of the best Multiplayer title was one of the best moments for soldiers protecting Super Earth.
Helldivers 2 wins Best Multiplayer Game at TGA
Helldivers 2, a multiplayer title by Arrowhead that took the online community by storm won the Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards 2024. The award was announced by Geoff Keighley as one of the off-stage announcements among other categories.
Helldivers 2 was PlayStation’s fastest-selling title of all time, as well as Sony’s most successful Windows title.
While Helldivers 2’s player count dropped after a few months of release, the game still has an active community who are actively following Major Orders and are fighting Automatons to spread Democracy around the universe.
Alongside the big win, a new Major Order called Omens of Tyranny was also announced in classic Helldivers 2 style. This order is now available in the game to complete as of December 13, 2024.
Sadly none of the Arrowhead developers made a speech or received the award as fans had expected them on-stage to accept the award, given massive applause was given once the announcement was made.
However when a Super-Earth soldier appeared later in the show announcing the latest Major Order for “citizens of Super Earth”, it made for a memorable moment.
