Helldivers 2 community suggests perks to encourage players to take part in the Major Order

Major Orders are the lifeblood of Helldivers 2, as players work together to fight the Galactic War and take out the Automatons and Terminids. Unfortunately, many Helldivers choose not to take part in them which makes it more difficult to complete. For many months, both the developers and the community have tried to figure out ways to encourage players to take part. Arrowhead Game Studios has begun to tie new Stratagems to Major Orders, to some success, although they are still desperately trying to give away the Anti-Tank Mines.

U/beyblade_takumi took to Reddit to suggest a way to encourage more players to take part in the Major Order events. At the time of writing, out of the 52,622 active players, only 35,108 are taking part in the Major Order, meaning that 17,514 are spread across the galaxy, with approximately 15,000 fighting the Terminids.

In the Reddit post, they suggest how to entice players to spend more time focused on the Major Order saying “If you do a MO mission, make it have a 20% boost to XP, req, and even samples.”

U/MuglokDecrepitus pointed out that players receive rewards regardless of participation, even if they haven’t logged onto the game during the Major Order saying “I feel a bit bad when I don’t play the game for a time but when I open it gives me +50 medals, +45 medals, +60 medals and I didn’t play the game, just opened it. It’s like I’m progressing in the Warbonds when I’m not playing the game, and I would like to not get those rewards unless I participated in the Major Order of that moment.”

As U/MuglokDecrepitus noted, regardless of whether you take part in the Major Order or not you will still receive the reward, which could give players the mindset of “someone else will complete it.” A good idea would be for the developers to change it so you are only granted the reward if you complete a mission that is part of the Major Order. This would encourage more players to participate, even if just to do a small part in the overall objective.

It would be good for Arrowhead Game Studios to find a way to encourage more players to check out the Major Orders, especially if medals were only rewarded for participation, and the idea of boosts seems like a great idea too. It will be interesting to see whether Arrowhead implements these suggestions in the future. Until then, the community will remain divided and there isn’t much that we can do about it.
