It’s been an excellent year so far for video game releases, and two of the biggest highlights have been Helldivers 2 and Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2. Although very different experiences, they are both excellent multiplayer games worthy of praise and adoration. A war between the two has been invented online by few within the HD2 community, and the Helldivers 2 CCO has delivered the perfect response to the supposed competition with Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2.

Arrowhead has delivered a phenomenal week for HD2 fans. The Chemical Agents Warbond is now out, and so too is the colossus update 01.001.100. Since the release of this update, the player count has more than doubled, and even more improvements are on the way as an exciting buff has been teased for the “next patch“.

Helldivers 2 is excellent once again following a strong start toward the beginning of the year, and Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 is a brilliant masterpiece that has only just recently come out. There is room for both games and communities to coexist, and the HD2 CCO fully agrees.

Helldivers 2 CCO responds to Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 competition

On the Helldivers 2 subreddit, there has been concern about Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 stealing players from fighting for liberty. These concerns came about before the launch of this week’s update, and the concerns were because the HD2 player count had plummeted to its lowest ever.

Because the HD2 player count has more than doubled since this week’s influx of massive weapon buffs, OP WithGrit07 posted a tongue-in-cheek meme saying, “What now doomers?,” in response to claims “Helldivers 2 will die when Space Marine 2 launches”.

In response to the post, Arrowhead CCO, Pilestedt, first thanked the community for all of the “amazing feedback”. He also said, “It’s amazing to finally see so many divers return. We are now looking to the day 60 patch, which will bring some more exciting changes!”.

As for the competition with Space Marine 2, Pilestedt said, “We should be greatful for getting several awesome games. I can’t even imagine how I, as a kid, would have felt to be able to play Helldivers and SM2. They are different games, but you can enjoy as many games as you want!”.

This is an excellent response from the developer, and it’s nothing short of the truth. Both Helldivers 2 and Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 are exceptional marvels, and you needn’t pick one over the other.

For Space Marine 2, the developer has recently conducted a Q&A with the fanbase. This has resulted in some interesting responses explaining why certain customizations can’t be unlocked “due to lore reasons,” and how the devs are not “comfortable” adding an FOV slider. There is also a roadmap of exciting content for 2024/25.
