343 Industries has announced that Halo Infinite’s second limited time event will kick off in the shooter from later today.
The Winter Contingency celebration will follow a similar structure to the previous Fracture: Tenrai event. To that end, all players will get access to a specific battle pass for event, offering cosmetic rewards. These include “armour pieces, an armour attachment, Holiday-themed coatings for your Spartan and weapons along with a free nameplate, emblems and a special backdrop.”
However, Winter Contingency will be a slightly smaller in scope, so there’ll be a couple of differences. 343 haven’t yet said if there’ll be a specific event playlist, for example. However, it has teased some of the potential rewards Spartans can nab in a teaser video it’s posted to Twitter.
We can probably expect the items might be easier to obtain too. During the Fracture: Tenrai event, 343’s head of design said he was “feeling everyone’s pain and progression” after many users complained at the slow progress of unlocks at the time. Since then, the team has made several changes to the base challenges, which included adding gamemode-specific playlists.
The Halo Infinite Winter Contingency event will kick off later today. The multiplayer portion of the game is free to play on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. You can check out Josh’s review of the combined Halo Infinite campaign and multiplayer package over here.
Tomorrow, it's time for a deck the hall brawl.
