505 Games has announced it will release Guilty Gear 2: Overture exclusively for Xbox 360 on September 4, 2009.

The game promises to take Guilty Gear fans in a bold new direction, borrowing elements from genres outside of the traditional one-on-one fighting action with which Guilty Gear made its name.

Developer Arc System Works has blended action and real time strategy gameplay elements, while also introducing 3D visuals for the first time in the cult franchise.

Taking control of their chosen character, players will command legions of loyal followers to crush all in their path, with battles won and lost by the destruction of opponents’ strongholds, known as ‘Masterghosts’ and by successfully defending one’s own from enemy attack.

The game will offer a full single-player campaign, four-way multiplayer over Xbox LIVE and two-player split-screen gameplay. Fans will also be pleased to see the return of series regulars Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske and the mysterious That Man, all of whom have had their signature special attacks recreated in 3D.
