We only have to wait one more year for Grand Theft Auto 6 to arrive. It’s arguably the most anticipated game ever, and lately exciting leaks have shared even more jaw-dropping claims about the open-world and gameplay. We won’t learn anything officially new about the game until Rockstar decide to provide more details, but a Grammy-winning music producer has claimed GTA 6 might allow artists to directly “upload music” into the game.
Music producer claims artists will be able to upload music into GTA 6
Grammy-winning music producer, Jermaine Dupri, has shared some interesting claims about music in GTA 6. On the June 12th episode of the New Rory & Mal podcast, Durpi said Rockstar “asked me to do Grand Theft Auto”.
The producer further claimed that Rockstar “were saying Drake got his own radio station on Grand Theft Auto,” and “the way that they [Rockstar] are getting ready to do it is that Drake can actually upload music that we probably ain’t never even heard online or wherever else, on that video game”.
The above quotes come courtesy of thegamepost. Dupri explicitly refers to Grand Theft Auto rather than GTA 6, but they appear to be alluding to the upcoming installment currently slated for May 26th, 2026.
This is by no means official, but the ability for artists to upload newly released music similar to a live playlist on services such as Spotify would be great as a new feature. It’s possible that is not the plan and something was lost in translation between Dupri and Rockstar, but it’s an interesting idea nonetheless. If it is something Rockstar actually has planned, it’s possible it could be for the Online mode to help keep the world feeling alive and new.
In addition, it’s not official that Drake has “his own radio station” either. The phrasing of this is also unclear as to whether it means Drake has a custom station full of his own tracks, or if he is the guest host of a radio station, similar to Axl Rose as the host of K-DST in San Andreas.
In other GTA 6 news, Take-Two has said a PC release is “much more” important than it used to be, but Rockstar can wait.
