Grand Theft Auto has always been massively popular and one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, but the hype surrounding GTA 6 is unlike anything else. The game is projected to make $1 billion in just pre-orders alone, and it’s a juggernaut that has the entire world ready to take a trip to Rockstar’s version of Miami, Vice City. Rockstar haven’t gone into full throttle with marketing yet, but, when they do, it’ll be unbelievably huge as demonstrated by the latest GTA 6 trailer continuing to smash records.
Latest GTA 6 trailer continues to smash records
GTA 6 trailer 2 has just become the second most watched video of all time on Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel. Since releasing on May 6th, the trailer has accumulated a rounded total of 123 million views, which is equal to the GTA 5 trailer that was published November 2nd, 2011.
It’s incredible just how many views the trailer has accumulated and continues to get. Since its release, Rockstar have not uttered a single word about the sixth instalment. While most developers continue to build hype through interviews and socials, Rockstar have returned to complete silence, yet the trailer is still racking up dozens of views on a daily basis due to the game being at the forefront of many people’s mind.
As a point of comparison, the Call of Duty Black Ops 7 reveal/teaser trailer has accumulated 39 million views since being published on June 8th. It’s still fantastic viewership for Activision, but it’s a comparison that shows just how extremely hyped GTA 6 is, even compared to arguably the biggest video game franchise.
While trailer 2 is the second most watched video on Rockstar’s YouTube channel, the reveal trailer for GTA 6 remains number one with 263 million views.
Recent job listings suggest Rockstar are fully confident in hitting the release date of May 26th, 2026. They are currently preparing a huge marketing campaign for all over the world, and it will presumably start with trailer 3. We don’t know when trailer 3 will come out, but the best odds are either December or January, and it’s likely when pre-orders will start, too.
In other Grand Theft Auto news, the main trio of GTA 5 have urged fans to “campaign” for GTA 6 story DLC, with even Trevor wanting to return.
