For a game that only came out in July, Zenless Zone Zero is catching a lot of heat for a perceived lack of variety and its events. At the moment, there is an event mode in Zenless Zone Zero that lets you play with friends at the arcade in New Eridu to take part in what is essentially multiplayer Snake.

Zenless Zone Zero is off to a good start, by all accounts, reaching its revenue milestone not long after launching. While some people have been annoyed at their luck in the gacha game, there is something undeniably appealing about Zenless Zone Zero that keeps people coming back for more.

This new event, Don’t Get Greedy, sees you battle it out in 2v2 in the Snake Duel arcade game. Since you’re playing with other people online on your server, some users are running into issues with the game mode, mostly because of ping and lag issues between the people in the session.

One post on Reddit lamented their experience, saying it is: “glitchy laggy garbage”, going on to say “The inherent lag of multiplayer making other snakes get random speed boosts so they catch up to their real position is absolute garbage to play around”. Lag causes all kinds of frustrations, but this is amplified when there is premium currency to earn in ZZZ by clearing objectives and winning the mode.

The post continues, “I respawned inside another snake’s coil, and there were only 5 tiles for me to move on, making it impossible to survive or get out”. While, like some people in the comments of the post, might be inclined to say it’s a ‘skill issue’ on the player’s behalf, we’ve tested the event and ran into similar problems with lag.

It could be a peak time for people to log in causing the issues, or it could be something HoYoverse might need to address if it gets more widespread, especially if it means some people can’t claim the rewards due to this. On the other hand, it could be entirely down to your own internet connection and ping while playing.
