Tiger Telematics, makers of the Gizmondo all-in-one handheld device, have purchased UK developer Warthog in a deal worth around $1,100,00.00 (£595,922.00), the Company have announced. The press release can be found here.

It is not known if Tiger Telematics have plans to purchase any further studios, however, the deal emphasises that the Gizmondo wants to be seen as a serious challenger to the upcoming Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. Whether or not this means Warthog will become a first-party developer for the console, or if Warthog’s existing library of games will be ported over as a result of the sale remains unclear.

Warthog is currently working on Richard Burns’ Rally for the handheld, which was released recently in the UK. A worldwide release date is expected during 2005.
