Gizmondo Europe yesterday announced a deal with Microsoft Game Studios that will see titles such as Age of Empires and MechAssault appearing on the handheld, along with the Rare title Mr Pants.

Managing Director of Gizmondo Europe, Carl Freer, said: “This deal strengthens the existing linkage between Gizmondo and Microsoft Game Studios,” he went on to say: “We welcome their enthusiasm and look forward to carrying the titles on our pocket-sized console. Our collaboration puts both Gizmondo and Microsoft Game Studios in a great position to meet all challengers in the handheld gaming market.”

This news will do nothing but strengthen the position of the Gizmondo handheld, which has been more or less ignored by the mainstream in favour of Sony’s PSP and Nintendo’s DS. Things are looking less and less like a two-horse race.
