Bethesda’s offered fans an insight into the story of the upcoming Ghostwire: Tokyo with a free Prelude visual novel.

The surprise bonus release will set the scene for the upcoming supernatural first-person action game, here’s the blurb. “This prequel chapter follows veteran detective KK and his team of supernatural investigators as they look into an unusual disappearance, only to stumble upon something even bigger. KK plays a pivotal role in Akito’s journey in Ghostwire: Tokyo, with other faces from the prequel making an appearance in the main game as well.”

To that end, you’ll be able to pick from multiple branching paths during the Prelude novel. Doing so will get you extra insight into KK and his crew, and even the mysterious Hannya. He’s the guy in the mask that may or may not be behind everything. Of course, you’ll have to play through the novel and the game to find out.

You can check out a trailer for Ghostwire Tokyo: Prelude below, and it’s available now for free on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It’ll also head to the PC from next week, on March 8. The full Ghostwire: Tokyo game, meanwhile, is expected to arrive on the same platforms on March 25.
