Ubisoft has announced that its squad-based third-person shooter, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, will be getting a free play weekend from October 12-15 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. This promotion kicks off following the release of Wildlands’ new free 4v4 Ghost War PvP team deathmatch mode, which is due to go live in the evening on October 10 (i.e. today).  This all kicks off following the previously announced 10 hour maintenance downtime.

During the free weekend, the game will also be available for purchase with 50% off throughout the promotion. If players choose to buy the game at any point over the course of the free play period, all of their progress including achievements and trophies will carry over into the full game. Smart, eh?

Ghost War focuses on two teams fighting over territory in teams of 4v4. These teams will be able to choose from twelve distinct classes such as assault, scout, sniper, and tank. Each class has its own strengths and weaknesses, so players can choose a class suitable to their playstyle, and one that will complement the rest of their team. Teams will do battle across five unique open-world maps, based on jungles, mountainous regions and forests. Time to channel that inner Rambo.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is out now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
