The 500KG bomb is perhaps the most popular Stratagems in Helldivers 2. Every mission that I play I bring it with me, and almost every mission it disappoints me. Due to the size of the explosion, it is easy to assume that is deals a lot of damage across a wide area, but it is disheartening to see it explode and then still see the gunfire from the Automatons through the smoke as none of them took damage.
A recent Personal Order called for players to eliminate 200 enemies using the 500KG bomb, and having so many to destroy made it clear that this Stratagem needs a buff.
U/sirhcx took to Reddit to discuss the 500 kg bomb and how disappointing it can be.
“I understand that the bomb has a lot of utility in the game but its stunted call in time usually means the hoard of enemies is now alerted to my location and has moved just outside the blast radius. So now not only are you blind in the area for a few extra seconds, but are now vulnerable to retaliation,” they said.
Other players took to the replies to share their thoughts, including U/aglock who said “Comparing 500kg to eagle airstrike makes you realize how bad 500kg is. 2 airstrike bombs will deal about the same damage as the 500kg, and it drops a huge amount of bombs over a large area with more uses before recharging. 500kg needs a bigger aoe or more damage to be worth using.”
It would be great to see it buffed so the damage is in line with the explosion, it looks devastating but it rarely is.
