Gears of War 4's digital Ultimate Edition includes four days early access to the upcoming shooter, allowing players to begin playing on Friday, October 7, four days ahead of the game's official release on Tuesday, October 11.

The bonus is similar to the one included in last year's Forza Motorsport 6 Ultimate Edition, which also offered early access to the game.

Alongside early access, the £79.99 edition also bundles in a Vintage Del multiplayer character and the game's Season Pass, which offers "permanent" ownership of 24+ multiplayer maps, access to a VIP playlist granting early access to new maps and modes, and more. You can check out the full contents of the Season Pass below:

  • Permanent DLC map ownership of over 24 additional maps (two per month for a year) for private play on dedicated serves
  • Vintage VIP Pack featuring the Vintage JD Character Skin, Vintage Gnasher and Dropshot Weapon Skins, Vintage JD Emblem and Vintage JD Bounty for extra XP
  • Exclusive VIP Early Access Playlist that grants a preview to upcoming modes, maps and variants
  • Six Gear Packs which unlock special character and weapon skins, equipment and abilities, and XP boosting bounties.

A standalone price for the Season Pass has yet to be announced. [UPDATE: It'll cost £39.99.]

Gears of War 4 launches worldwide on Xbox One on October 11, with an open beta rolling out to all Xbox Live Gold members today. The standard digital edition is available to pre-order from the Xbox Store now for £49.99.
