Game of Thrones will begin its ten-episode sixth season on Monday, April 25 at 2am, simulcasting with the 9pm premiere over on HBO in the US, Sky Atlantic has announced.

A 9pm re-run will air later that day on Sky Atlantic, presumably followed by the popular Thronecast show.

Very little is known about the sixth season, but it has been revealed that it will explore the past and future of Westeros, plus the return of Bran Stark.

HBO programming president Michael Lombardo also confirmed at Thursday's The Television Critics Association winter press tour that the premium network is in discussions with Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss about securing seasons 7 and 8.
