Games of Thrones, the video game based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels, is set for release in early June, Koch Media has announced.

The novels have sold over 15 million copies worldwide, and the acclaimed TV show from HBO is currently in its second season.

The game is an Unreal Engine 3 powered RPG from French studio Cyanide, promising all the vengeance, allegiance, betrayal and honour fans have come to expect from the series.

Fans will get a brand new story developed with creative input from Martin, throwing fans into a fantasy environment as they embark on a quest for the famous Iron Throne.

Take control as other Mors, Sworn Brother of the Night’s Watch, or Alester, a Red Priest in search of redemption, and visit familiar locations from Westeros, such as The Wall and the famous King’s Landing. Players will also encounter the likes of Queen Cersei, Varys the Spider and Jeor Mormont, Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.
