FromSoftware, the Japanese studio behind games like Elden Ring and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, is working on “several projects.”

The developer has launched a recruitment website, and there are dozens of roles on there. FromSoftware says that it is “looking for development staff to be at the core of several new projects.”

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the studio’s president, has spoken in an interview with 4Gamer. In the interview, Miyazaki says that another project is nearing completion. Miyazaki also says that these upcoming games have directors of their own. Which is a change. The last FromSoftware game that didn’t feature Miyazaki as director was Dark Souls II.

Miyazaki co-directed Déraciné, a PlayStation VR mystery along with Shigeto Hirai and Takaaki Yamagishi. Perhaps we will see their names appearing at the masthead of something completely unexpected. It is entirely possible, of course, that FromSoftware will dip its toes back into virtual reality. The studio seems unable to fail, no matter what it tries its hand at. I even relished parts of Metal Wolf Chaos XD.

Though I think it would be a shame, it seems unlikely that Elden Ring won’t get a sequel, given its huge success. More exciting, still, is the prospect that we will get something entirely new.
