Epic Games has announced that spring has sprung in battle royale shooter Fortnite today, with the beginning of its annual Spring Breakout limited time event for 2023.
Starting today, players diving into the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 map will find some changes, as a number of key locations get a spring clean and decoration – but aesthetics aren’t the only addition.

There’s also a bunch of event specific challenges for players to take part in, giving them the chance to earn some unique cosmetics for their trouble.
Fortnite Spring Breakout dates – when is Spring Breakout in Fortnite?
As per the latest blog post, Spring Breakout 2023 kicks off from today, March 29 – and will run until April 11, 2023.
On top of the visual makeover – and a fun looking Egg Launcher – you’ll also find two new types of chickens that lay some special new types of eggs on the island – each with their own effects.
For example, green heal eggs will do as the name suggests, and replenish your health and shields when consumed.
Then there’s blue hop eggs, which will grant players a temporary reduced gravity effect, allowing them to bound around the battlefield like an Easter Bunny.
Finally, Golden Eggs can’t be consumed – but are worth a huge bunch of gold bars if you interact with them during play.
The Fortnite Spring Breakers event is the latest LTE in Fortnite which launched Chapter 4 Season 2 earlier this month. Fans also have an Attack on Titan crossover to come at an as-yet-to-be-announced time later this season.
