Epic Games has introduced a variety of new features to Fortnite in recent years. The game has undergone several quality-of-life improvements, significantly enhancing the overall experience. With the addition of new game modes and gameplay elements, Fortnite now feels quite different from its 2017 release. However, Epic has also removed certain features that didn’t succeed.
On Wednesday, the Fortnite developer decided to scrap Simple Edit from competitive modes. Considering that this feature makes building much simpler, it’s no surprise that Epic removed it from certain aspects of the game.
Why was Simple Edit removed from Fortnite?
It’s important to note that most of Fortnite’s game modes still have Simple Edit. If you enjoy playing casual modes or Creative, the latest change won’t affect you. However, if you prefer Ranked modes, then you will no longer have access to the feature. Furthermore, this feature was never available in Zero Build, since it only affects player-built structures.
At the moment, it’s unknown why Epic removed Simple Edit from Fortnite Competitive, although we have a good guess. This feature simplifies editing and that could have been the reason. Competitive modes are supposed to be more complex, which is why they have different loot pools, settings, and other changes.

This information comes from Hypex, the most popular Fortnite leaker. Since Epic Games hasn’t announced it officially, there is also a chance that this is just a temporary change. Simple Edit may have caused some problems, such as game crashing, in competitive modes, which is why it was disabled for the time being.
Simple Edit was added with the release of Chapter 6 back in December 2024. However, considering that the game developer is constantly trying to improve the game and make it more fun, it’s no surprise that it was already removed from certain modes.
