Attending an event in Fortnite is certainly a fantastic experience. Epic Games has released numerous events so far in the game, with some of them getting more than 10 million concurrent players. Looking at these numbers, it’s easy to conclude that the majority of players enjoy these events. However, many players still don’t know about a secret event that was organized by the community.
This event was unique simply because it had nothing to do with Epic Games. Fortnite players took the matter into their own hands and had a small event that lasted for a couple of minutes. In this article, we will take a look at the secret event and everything that led up to it.
This secret Fortnite event was incredible
Back in Chapter 1 Season 3, Epic Games began working on Fortnite’s storyline. A mysterious comet appeared in the sky, with many players believing that it was headed for Tilted Towers, an iconic spot. As a result, this location was included in many rumors. While the comet did not hit Tilted Towers, the location was involved in another Fortnite event.
On April 18, 2018, Fortnite players teamed up to destroy the iconic location. The idea was conceived on Reddit by user xsqoof, and it gained a lot of traction. “Be there, to honor this soon-to-be fallen location by standing united and in harmony,” the Fortnite player wrote on the popular website.
The plan was simple:
- Wear a default skin
- Destroy every single structure in Tilted
- Have a dance party
As the video above shows, it took players only two minutes to annihilate Tilted Towers. Unfortunately, some players took this opportunity to eliminate others, who were unarmed. The good news is that most players worked together to achieve the goal and destroy the Fortnite location, at least until the end of a match!
Interestingly, the “comet” turned out to be a meteor, and it completely avoided Tilted Towers. Instead, it hit Dusty Depot, setting the stage for Season 4. The very first live event in Fortnite took place on June 30, 2018, which was a rocket launch. However, the rocket didn’t damage the popular location either. Despite this, “Tilted Towers Wake Ceremony” is still one of the most interesting events in Fortnite, and arguably the most unique.
Tilted Towers was eventually destroyed in The Unvaulting event at the end of Season 8. Only one building survived the volcano eruption, while the rest of the town was rebuilt into Neo Tilted for Season 9.
