Fortnite is slowly entering its final week of the Galactic Battle season. The Star Wars collaboration has been amazing, bringing lots of new content over the past few weeks. However, its final update just came out and will be active for a little over a week. Interestingly, the next Fortnite season will have an unusual release date, something that Epic Games has never done before.

As you may already be aware, the current season will end with a massive live event on Saturday, June 7. Once the event ends, the game will go into an extended downtime. However, this downtime will be much shorter than the previous post-event downtimes.

The next Fortnite season will be released much earlier than usual

The live event will take place on June 7 at 2 PM Eastern Time. Epic estimates that it will be over at 2:30 PM, and the game will go into downtime right after it. Usually, the Fortnite developer releases new seasons at either 2 or 4 AM ET. However, the next one will be an exception.

With the release of the latest update, Fortnite changed the release date of the next season to June 7 at 10 PM ET. This means that servers are expected to be down for at least seven and a half hours and that the new season may be playable on the same day as the event.

Earlier this month, Epic changed the ending date of the current season, which is now set for 2:30 PM ET. Due to this, both the end of the current season and the release of the new one will occur much earlier than usual.

With the upcoming live event and an unusually timed season launch, Fortnite players are in for an exciting and fast-paced transition. Epic Games’ decision to shorten downtime and roll out the new season on the same day reflects their commitment to keeping the momentum going and the player base engaged, so it will be interesting to see how it will work out and how the community will react to new timings.
