After four years of legal battles against Apple, Epic Games has come out on top. As a result, Fortnite will be back on iOS devices next week! This means that iPad and iPhone owners will be able to play the upcoming Star Wars season without using cloud gaming, which is a huge victory for gamers. On top of this, Epic will be able to avoid paying Apple’s 30% tax.
The last time Fortnite was available on the App Store was in August 2020. Now, it’s just a few days away from its glorious return.

With the release date of Fortnite Chapter 6 – Season 3 set for Friday, May 2, millions of players are excited to try out the upcoming content. As previously revealed, the new season will bring a Star Wars theme. The season will be one of the shortest, lasting for only five weeks. However, for the first time in more than four years, iOS users will be able to play Fortnite natively.
Tim Sweeney, Epic Games co-founder and CEO, revealed that the game is coming back to the App Store in the United States next week. “Epic puts forth a peace proposal: If Apple extends the court’s friction-free, Apple-tax-free framework worldwide, we’ll return Fortnite to the App Store worldwide and drop current and future litigation on the topic,” the executive added.
Epic fought for years against Apple’s 30% tax, and this issue has been finally resolved. When Fortnite returns to the platform, the game developer will be able to sell V-Bucks and other cosmetics through web transactions, avoiding the tax.
