Sub-Zero’s Kombat Kit has been one of the most popular items this Fortnite season. The Mortal Kombat character was added with the Battle Pass, and his item is very fun to use. Not only does it deal great damage from close range, but it’s also great for mobility. After all, landing an uppercut on your enemy is very satisfying!
The item is great, but many players are unaware of its secret feature. Unfortunately, this feature can be fatal in certain situations, so it’s important to use caution.
The secret Fortnite feature makes Sub-Zero’s Kombat Kit more awesome, but also deadly
Sub-Zero is all about the ice and freezing temperatures. Due to this, it’s no surprise that Epic Games implemented a secret feature with his in-game item. Next time you pick it up, you will notice that you can walk on the water. More specifically, the water under you will freeze while you have the item selected, allowing you to move quickly over the map.
While this secret feature is amazing, it can also be fatal. Jumping from a bridge into the water is generally not a big problem, since there is no fall damage. However, if you do this while using Sub-Zero’s Kombat Kit, you will instantly die. In the Solo mode, this item can send you back to the lobby in a heartbeat, so be careful how you use it.
The latest Fortnite update even added an easter egg for this item. When you use it to hit your enemy with an uppercut, you will see the “Toasty!” image in the lower-right corner of your screen. This reference was disabled by Epic for the time being, but we expect it to return soon.
