However, a recent report by Sony shows that Fortnite was also the most popular free game on PlayStation.
This is hardly a surprise for Fortnite, a game that has dominated the charts for over six years. Nevertheless, the achievement remains impressive considering the game’s remarkable longevity.
Is Fortnite the most popular game on PlayStation?
Sony and Epic Games have had a long and successful partnership. Thanks to it, the battle royale game received cross-platform capabilities back in 2018. Furthermore, Fortnite has always been popular on PlayStation, the world’s most popular gaming console, and its popularity doesn’t seem to be fading away.
According to Sony’s report, Fortnite was the most popular free game on PlayStation last year. It ranked first in both US & Canada and Europe. The second place in this category was taken by Roblox, while Marvel Rivals climbed to No. 3 in North America.
The Fortnite player count is consistent with these numbers. The number of concurrent players rarely drops under 1 million, and it recently peaked at 14.3 million. With the addition of new modes, such as Ballistic and Fortnite OG, Epic Games’ title will likely keep dominating the gaming industry for many years to come.
