Fortnite’s player count has been a polarizing topic over the past few years. Some players claim that the game is dead, while others think that it hit another peak. The truth? Well, the truth is a bit more complicated. However, thanks to the public player count and Epic Games’ recent reveal, it’s easy to conclude that Fortnite is doing incredibly well.

Epic’s popular game is in its eighth year and the birthday of its most popular mode, Battle Royale, is just around the corner. Millions of players still play Fortnite on a daily basis, which is impressive, to last the last. However, what’s even more impressive is the figure its developer recently revealed during Unreal Fest 2024.

Fortnite’s player count was revealed by Epic Games

Back in mid-2023, Epic Games released Fortnite’s public player count. This count shows concurrent players for every mode in the game. Thanks to it, it’s easy to track Fortnite’s popularity, as well as the popularity of new modes, such as LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing.

Despite being in its eighth year, Fortnite rarely has fewer than a million concurrent players, which is a massive success. According to its creator, the game has 100 million monthly active users. This mind-blowing figure shows how popular the game still is and how Epic keeps finding ways to attract new players.

The game creator also revealed that more than two-thirds of players play Fortnite Creative. Considering how many amazing maps this mode has, it’s no surprise that this is the case. Casual players use this mode to explore new maps, while competitive players use it to practice and prepare for in-game tournaments.

Fortnite’s player count dropped drastically during the Wilds season back in Chapter 4. Interestingly, this was the first season with the public player count. However, the OG Season skyrocketed the number of active players, while the first season of Chapter 5 achieved even bigger numbers.

So far, the new Marvel season has been a huge success, with the player count improving by more than 20% in comparison to the last season. With the release of another OG Season and Fortnite Chapter 6 later this year, we expect this number to keep increasing. After all, Epic Games has always found ways to keep players entertained, so we have no reason to doubt the future of the game.
