Epic Games is reportedly working on a new Fortnite mode that will feature an open world. The mode has been in development for over a year, according to leakers, and may come out soon. With Chapter 6 set to release in December 2024, the release date of the mode might be just a few months away. In the meantime, we have an amazing concept that shows what the open world map could look like.

Leakers claim that the open-world mode will be massive. Furthermore, the Fortnite developer confirmed the development of the mode with a job posting.

Fortnite might get a mode with an open world in Chapter 6

At the moment, we don’t know what the map in the open-world mode is going to look like. However, considering how many iconic locations Fortnite has had, we expect it to be huge. Leakers claim that the map will be dynamic and that both wildlife and vehicles will be available. Due to this, it won’t be surprising if it ends up being at least three times bigger than a Battle Royale island.

Reddit user xads181 recently posted a concept of what the open-world map could look like. The post has gone viral, receiving thousands of upvotes and getting hundreds of comments in less than 24 hours.

As the image above shows, the concept map has numerous popular locations that were available in Fortnite at some point. Furthermore, the island has a variety of biomes, so locations like Sunny Steps and Lazy Lagoon are located in the jungle, while Paradise Palms and Rocky Reels can be found in the desert biome.

It will be interesting to see what the actual map will look like. However, knowing how creative Epic Games can get with new maps, we are expecting a pleasant surprise. In addition to the open world, Fortnite Chapter 6 will likely bring a new island for the Battle Royale mode, making the exploration even more exciting.
