Epic is kicking off Fortnite’s annual Halloween celebrations with Fortnitemares 2022 – the annual event celebrating all things spooky in the battle royale.
This year’s event has a distinctly werewolf theme, with guest appearances from DJ Lyka and a new twist that’ll grant players lycan-like abilities.

Fortnite Fortnitemares 2022 – Werewolf Abilities
At the game’s Reality Tree you’ll be able to party with DJ Lyka – but it’s not just a disco he’s holding here. Step onto one of the Alteration Altars across the map, and perform the Ritual Emote to be granted the Howler Claws.
They’re a new melee weapon that also grants you three new abilities. Wolfscent allows you to track enemies in a nearby radius. Of course, they also grant you the Slash Ability – allowing a four-hit combo melee attack.
Then there’s the Air Slash ability, this’ll allow you to pull off a special double jump that also damages opponents on landing. Owch.
Fortnite Fortnitemares 2022 – Zero Build Horde Rush LTE
This year’s LTE is Zero Build Horde Rush. You’ll be able to team up with friends to take down loads of monsters – you can get score multipliers, earn combos and complete a bunch of quests for XP and more.
What’s more is that the Zero Build Horde Rush mode is set to stick around after the end of Fortnitemares 2022, giving you a bit of extra time to take it on. It’ll be part of the game until November 15.
Fortnite Fortnitemares 2022 – Quests, Unvaulted items and rewards
Outside of the Horde Rush mode, there’s a bunch of additional Fortnitemare quests that can be completed for some lovely treats. Some of them involve Candy and the Pumpkin Launcher, which have both been unvaulted for the occasion.
Completing the quests over the 14 days of Fortnitemares 2022 will nab you some cool cosmetics too, including the Everything’s End Glider, the Chrome Cage Back Bling and the Unmaker pickaxe.
We’re also told to look out for a new threat on the island, at the Grim Gables house – you’ll have to explore if you want to find out more.
When does Fortnite Fortnitemares 2022 run until?
Fortnite Fortnitemares runs from today until November 1 at 2am ET – that’s 7am UK time.

Custom Diagonals Keyboard Movement
- In v22.20, a “Custom Diagonals Keyboard Movement” setting has been added to the Mouse and Keyboard settings tab. With this new setting, you’re now able to adjust the diagonal movement of your character to your preferred angle of movement.
- To enable the setting, go to the Mouse and Keyboard tab and toggle “Use Custom Diagonals” to “On.” Then, adjust the “Forward Diagonal Angle” and “Backward Diagonal Angle” to your preferred movement angle.
Competitive Notes
- With the exception of map changes, the Fortnitemares changes are not included in competitive playlists.
Major Bug Fixes
- Reboot Cards no longer sink if the player was eliminated in water.
- Players are again able to see the progress of their EvoChrome weapon evolutions in competitive playlists.
- Moving the right stick on controller no longer unintentionally navigates menus.
- Fixed an issue on mobile causing water to appear as if it was floating above the ground.
