Having an extended downtime in Fortnite is never fun. Some of these periods lasted for more than a day, meaning that the game was unplayable for a long. While downtime is usually scheduled and Epic Games prepares for it, some of them cause unexpected problems, lasting much longer than they are supposed to.
With the Fortnitemares 2024 event out, Epic Games has one more Fortnite update to release in the current season. This update will bring season-ending stuff, including potential live event data. The game developer has already revealed how long servers are expected to be down on Friday morning.
How long will the Fortnite downtime last?
According to Epic Games, the downtime for the upcoming Fortnite update will end relatively quickly. It is scheduled to begin at 4 AM Eastern Time and end two and a half hours later. Keep in mind that this is what the company expects. The downtime period could end up being much longer if there are some unexpected problems with the servers.

Epic’s estimate hasn’t been very accurate this year. In the past few updates, the developer expected downtime of at least four hours several times, yet they didn’t last longer than two hours. Will that be the case this time? We’ll have to wait and find out. However, it is important to point out that the Fortnite update is the last one of the current chapter as well, so the servers may not be functional for a while.
One thing is certain, and that is that the next few weeks will be fantastic for Fortnite players. Once the downtime ends, the update will be active for approximately a week. It will be followed by the second OG season, which is scheduled for November 2, and Chapter 6 in early December.
