The first alpha test for Epic Games’ base-building survival game Fortnite begins on PC today, the developer has announced.

The alpha runs until December 19 but you’ll need to have received an invite from Epic to get in. If you haven’t yet signed up to be a part of it you can do so here.

“We are very excited to get Fortnite into players’ hands for the first time,” said Epic.

“During this phase of the Alpha we are testing to make sure all of the basic stuff, from the launcher to all the game systems, is working so we can start getting real feedback from real players to help us make the game better. The game is still rough around the edges but we think it can benefit from your input even at this early stage.”

A few thousand players have already been invited into the alpha with more invites being sent out later this week.

A release date for Fortnite has yet to be announced.
