Sega and Sports Interactive have announced that the top flight Japanese division clubs will finally be available in the upcoming Football Manager 2024 thanks to a new licensing deal.

Ahead of the Football Manager 2024 release date, the agreement will see teams from the J.1 League, J.2 League and J.3 League added to the game for the first time, and means budding managers can also looking forward to seeing Japan as a playable nation in-game too. That’s 60 (count ’em) additional clubs, with accurate logos, kits and player photos from the 2023 season and adding even more depth to the game’s already stacked roster of players.

“For years and years, we’ve faced the ‘where is the J.League?’ question from our fans, so I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to make that happen” says studio director Miles Jacobson on the announcement. “Signing an agreement with the J.League is something we’ve wanted to do for a very long time and being able to combine that with our first launch in Japan is an enormous milestone for the studio and wider Sega family.”
