The standalone game is in development at Relic and will run on an enhanced version of the Essence Engine with support for DirectX 10. Players will be treated to two new campaigns which will see the British 2nd Army freeing Caen, France and the German Panzer Elite fighting off an air attack in Operation Market Garden.

The game will now feature mission persistence, improved vehicle and soldier AI, enhanced physics, and a dynamic weather system. The game is also fully compatible with Company of Heroes.

Multiplayer is also being enhanced with new game modes and the integration of the two new armies with the first game’s two armies – for those that own the game.

Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts is scheduled for release in the autumn.
