It appears that FIFA 23’s upcoming World Cup Mode has appeared a little earlier than intended.

As noted by Twitter account FIFA 23 News, a number of players found themselves able to access a menu for the mode on PlayStation overnight.

It seems players were able to access the menus temporarily through the PlayStation 5’s activities tab – and were able to see a number of features including Online Quickplay, Tournaments and more.

Interestingly enough, Eurogamer also notes that players have spotted 48 teams available to play in the mode – which is 16 more than are playing in the actual tournament.

However, at the time of writing it seems the leak has been fixed – and the menu is no longer accessible in game.

It’s been confirmed for some time that FIFA 23 would be getting a couple of dedicated modes to celebrate both the Men’s and Women’s World Cup tournaments over the next few months.

The Men’s tournament is set to begin on November 20, and takes place in Qatar – hence why the tournament is taking place so late in the year this time around. Presumably then, the mode is scheduled to actually go live in November.

The Women’s tournament, meanwhile, will be held in New Zealand, but won’t be held until the more traditional summer window of July and August. Right now, we can only assume FIFA 23’s content based on the tourney will arrive around then.

In addition to the World Cup 2022 Modes, FIFA 23 will also be releasing a number of tie-in Heroes cards – which you can read more about in our handy hub.
