EA has revealed the two players that will grace the cover of this year’s iteration of its soccer series, FIFA 23.
Paris Saint-Germain striker Paris Kylian Mbappe marks his third year in a row on the game’s standard edition. However, the 23 year old won’t be alone on the game’s Ultimate Edition. That’s because he’ll be joined by Chelsea FC forward Sam Kerr. Kerr’s appearance will mark the first time a female soccer star has made the cover of the long-running series.
Kerr also happens to be the captain of the Australia Women’s National team. So, rightfully, it means she’ll grace the cover solo on the standard cover in Australia and New Zealand. She’ll also be the solo star if you buy the game from Amazon. She’s got quite the resume behind her, being the only female player to have won the Golden Boot in three different leagues on three different continents.
“It’s an honour and a dream come true to be on the cover of FIFA 23,” Kerr says in the announcement. “It’s been incredible to work with Kylian and the whole EA Sports team, and I can’t wait for fans to get their hands on a copy of the game.”
As for what’s new in the game itself this year, we don’t have long to find out. EA’s also declared it’ll be showing off FIFA 23‘s worldwide reveal trailer on July 20 at 5pm UK time. We’ll include the video below which should go live then so you can bookmark this page and come back for that.
EA says that FIFA 23 will be its most “innovative and connected edition” of the series yet. We do know it’ll be the last to bear the FIFA moniker.
