Epic Games has announced that gameshow-themed battle royale Fall Guys will go free to play when it finally arrives on Xbox & Switch next month.

In fact, the entire game will be getting its biggest update yet as it arrives on the new formats with cross-play and cross progression. There’ll be new levels, new costumes and new game modes as the game goes under something of a soft reboot for the new era. To that end, it’ll also kick off a brand new Season One called Free-For-All, with more details to come closer to launch.

Similar to stablemate Rocket League’s own transition in 2020, the move will also see the game no longer available on Steam. Those who already own Fall Guys on the platform will still get all the updates and new content going forward, but new players on PC will have to get it through the Epic Games Store. Furthermore, those who do already own the game on PC and PlayStation 4 will also get an additional bonus in the form of a free Legacy Pack.

This will include an exclusive nickname, nameplate, and the Regal, Veggie Dog & Feisty Dwarf Costumes. They’ll also get a free Season Pass for the new Season One of the game’s new era. Everyone else will be able to get their hands on this Season Pass via the new Show-Bucks currency that’ll be introduced into the game on its free-to-play launch.

Finally, a bespoke version for the PlayStation 5, enhanced with faster load times and other new-gen bells and whistles will arrive at the same time as all of this. You can check out videos for all these announcements below. Fall Guys arrives in its new guise on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC on June 21.
