It’s been a while since we heard anything about Playground’s upcoming take on the Fable series, but that could be about to change very soon.

The official Xbox Twitter account posted a teaser video for next week’s Xbox Showcase, shot from the POV of someone finding their controller covered in glitter, leading a trail through their house to their PC which showed the logo for the upcoming event and the caption “seems important. See you there, June 11!” Many users online after watching the video are now convinced that the video indicates we could be in for a re-reveal of the upcoming Fable 4 (titled simply ‘Fable’) at the show.

There’s a couple of reasons for this – the glitter being the main one, as it’s given the video a feel reminiscent of the magical sparkles used in the Fable announcement back in 2020 and commonly used in previous entries in the series to lead you to your objective. There’s also the music, which does give more of a feel of something magical and a little bit jaunty, which would suit the Fable universe well and doesn’t seem to fit with the hashtag used in the tweet – that for Starfield (which will definitely be shown during the Showcase).

Of course, there’s some aspects that mean we’re a little sceptical that this teaser whether this teaser is for Fable specifically, aside from the obvious hashtag. Though the music does seem like a good fit, there’s a good chance that what’s been used is just some generic library music, and the glitter could be just a reference to stars in the aforementioned Starfield. It’s also worth noting that if you freeze the video at the right time, you may notice the name on the desk: Melissa McGamepass – a fictional name Xbox usually use to announce new titles coming to the Game Pass service.

That being said, it has been quite a while since we heard about the new Fable game – and fans are long overdue for an update on the RPG, so we’re not ruling out the possibility entirely that we could get an update on the game during the showcase, even if this teaser isn’t intentionally supposed to be promoting Fable specifically.

As previously noted, the new Fable was originally announced all the way back in 2020, and will be developed by Playground Games, normally responsible for the Forza Horizon series. While we know very little, it will be released on the Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it will be on Game Pass from launch. We also found out that the lead writer of the project will be former Control narrative lead Anna McGill. We don’t have too much longer to wait to find out if Fable will be part of the show – as it’s set to take place on Sunday, June 11.
