Former Blizzard North vice president Bill Roper has been appointed VP of Disney Interactive Media Group, who currently oversees the Marvel franchise.

The new VP will help identify new developers to partner with on upcoming projects, as well as oversee the creative direction for Marvel games.

Disney Interactive stated: “We are pleased to have Bill join our team. With 17 years of experience in the worldwide gaming industry, we are confident that Bill has the creative vision necessary to help guide the next wave of development and product for DIMG’s Marvel Games.”

Roper served as VP for the Diablo studio Blizzard North, then helped to develop the failed MMO Hellgate: London for Flagship Studios before working as chief creative officer on Champions Online.

In 2009 Disney bought Marvel, enabling the conglomerate to use Marvel’s vast array of characters on its television channels, theme parks, video games, and films.
