Fortnite, the co-op survival game that has been in development for what seems like an aeon, is definitely, absolutely on its way. Originally announced way back in 2011, and in alpha since 2014, Fortnite finally has a launch trailer in the form of a cinematic short called Hard Days Night.

It seems that strange things are afoot at the Durrburger fast-food joint. The squad come across a mother and her child, just as a rather ominous looking purple cloud looms overhead. So what else is there to do except fortify their defences and get ready for the attacking horde of undead?

Fortnite is a randomly-generated co-op survival game, which has you exploring, scavenging items, crafting a variety of weapons and building fortified structures. Working together, players will build a fort and all its defences, and by night defend it from the zombies and other monsters. Hence the title, Fortnite. Smart, eh?

Coming from the minds at Epic Games, the studio that brought you Gears of War, Fortnite is finally making its way into paid early access on July 25, on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Mac. If you’ve pre-ordered the Founder’s Pack you’ll get a nice four-day head start beginning July 21, along with access to the Storm Master Weapon Pack.

Fortnite’s full, free-to-play release will be in 2018.
