The Epic Games Store has announced it’ll finally introduce Achievements, a feature promised since the service launched, next week.

As per the announcement post, the way the system will work is that you’ll earn XP for each Achievement earned. There’ll be a different amount, depending on the tier of trophy earned. Bronze Trophies will be worth between 5-45 XP, Silver 50-95 XP, Gold 100-200 XP and Platinum 250 XP. Earning XP will allow you to “level up” your profile.

Naturally, every game on the Epic Games Store with Epic Achievements will include a detail page to help you track your progress. You’ll be able to see how close you are to unlocking, as well as those you’ve already earned. This information will also be available on a game’s Store page, allowing you to check before you buy a game.

Epic say they’ve been working with multiple developers to offer Achievements at launch. The games on that list are Hades, Rocket League, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Zombie Army 4, Pillars of Eternity and this week’s release Alan Wake Remastered. The company say they’re working to get the tools to more developers, so hopefully more games will join that list soon.

A certain number of games started trailing acheivements on the Epic Game Store a year ago. These were independent of this new system, but they’ll remain functional as “developer achievements”. If a developer decides to later integrate them into the new system, your progress will carry over and you’ll retroactively earn the appropriate XP. Epic also promise to add new social features and player rewards for earning XP later in the year.
