Marvel Rivals, the hotly anticipated Overwatch-like co-op shooter, has garnered a ton of hype ever since developer NetEase Games launched its now-concluded beta test back in July. Although the dev team had yet to confirm a release date, Epic Games accidentally revealed it ahead of its official Gamescom reveal.

According to an article from Insider Gaming, in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Epic Games preemptively announced that the Marvel Rivals release date would be on December 6, 2024. “All heroes will be unlocked and free-to-play at launch and beyond,” the post continued. So, once the game drops, you’ll immediately be able to get hands-on with the best characters that the game has to offer. However, if you need help understanding their mechanics, you may want to check out how to play Jeff the Land Shark or how to play Luna Snow in Marvel Rivals.

If not for this minor mishap, the Marvel Rivals release date would likely have been revealed through its segment during Gamescom opening night live. But now that you know when it’ll drop, you can prepare your platform of choice, whether it’s the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC (yes, it’ll only be on current-gen consoles) because it’ll likely eat up a significant amount of space.
