Bandai Namco has dropped a new story trailer for upcoming From Software adventure Elden Ring.

The latest footage gives us insight into the game’s mythology, penned by A Song of Ice and Fire writer George R.R. Martin. It tells the tale of the Shattering, said to be a devastating war between the children of Marika who are the Demigods of the Lands Between. Things kicked off when a bunch of assassins took out many members of the God-Queen’s kin.

Those deaths hit both the Eternal Queen and Godwyn the Golden hard. They even resulted in the latter’s death, and the titular Elden Ring was somehow shattered following his death. This sparked an all out war between the children of Marika, fracturing the empire. None of the sides could get an advantage, and now the Lands Between are locked in an uneasy stalemate.

You’ll fight alongside both General Radahan and Malenia the Severed, two supposedly undefeatable warriors. However, ultimately the hope in the world is that a new Elden Lord will rise. And it looks like you might be just the Tarnished to do it.

You’ll get to find out for yourself when Elden Ring launches on February 25, 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. In the meantime, check out Josh’s preview of the game right over here and peep the Elden Ring story trailer below.
