It’s been a pretty big day for me so far. Fallout: London released earlier this afternoon, and then a few hours later I had an embargo to hit for Deathsprint 66 for 4PM. Reason I was a little worried is because there was an EA FC 25 Gameplay Deep Dive scheduled for the same time. It was a blink and you miss it kind of moment, because the so-called Deep Dive lasted less than the amount of time it would take to boil a kettle.
The livestream chat was expectedly filled with people saying it how it is; “L.”
This so-called deep dive brought up FC IQ and took a little look at Career Mode. Ahead of the announcement, we had been told that Goalkeeper Playstyles would make an appearance too. Albeit, the previews for FC 25 are already out. While I’ve not played it yet, my colleagues have. So far, they think it’s good enough to breathe life back into the EA FC / FIFA franchise – which sounds like it’s enough for me.
“Success in FC 25 … is about putting the right player for the system you want to run,” says Gameplay Producer Paul Parsons. The big changes to Career Mode are by far the ones that I’m most excited for, with a tactical style much more akin to Football Manager seeming likely.
While it would have been nice to see a little more about EA FC 25 in this ‘Deep Dive,’ I can only assume that they’re preparing more to drip-feed to us over the coming weeks. Either that, or some intern has just played a cheeky practical joke on the thousands who had tuned in.
The comments section expectedly had a pretty sour reaction to the cut-short deep-dive. “EA never disappoints us when it comes to disappointing us,” writes one, while another said “when the lady said ‘that’s it’ I started laughing. No way I’m buying this.”
Hopefully the game isn’t as disappointing for them as this trailer was.
