It’s been somewhat of a quiet period for EA of late (I’m hoping you can detect the sarcasm) but while they’ve been busy buying up studios and trying to put out angry fan fires their development studios have been hard at work on some new games, and EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has been speaking about a new project underway at EA Motive Studios.

Speaking at the UBS Global Technology Conference as reported on by GamesIndustry.biz, Jorgensen said of the yet to be announced project that the studio – based in Montreal and headed up by former Assassin’s Creed boss Jade Raymond and also boasts Portal’s Kim Swift as design director – is working on a new action franchise that ‘looks fantastic and very exciting.’ and that it featured ‘a lot of new interesting gameplay that I don’t think anyone’s ever seen before.’

The studio was set up in 2015 and has so far previously worked with Bioware on Mass Effect Andromeda and later with Amy Hennig and Visceral on their Star Wars game before the latter studio was closed and Motive were transferred to working with EA DICE on Star Wars Battlefront 2, but this is the first we’ve heard about their own project.

There’s not much more to go on yet, but Jorgensen notes that we won’t see it until ‘probably’ at least their fiscal year 2021, so don’t expect to hear too much more for a while yet.
