Overnight Nintendo announced the DSi LL, a larger-screened version of its hugely popular DS handheld, to be released in Japan on November 21, 2009. But what of the new handheld’s release in Europe.

A statement issued to VideoGamer.com by Nintendo of Europe, the handheld will hit these shores in Q1 2010.

“Nintendo today confirms that a new Nintendo DSi XL console is launching in Europe in the first quarter of 2010. The retail price of the Nintendo DSi XL is expected to be higher than that of the Nintendo DSi. Further details will be released soon,” explained the statement.

The DSi XL will feature 4.2 inch screens, over 90 per cent larger than the screens found on the Nintendo DS Lite.
